SEEHOF Nature Retreat is an intimate adults-only (14+) boutique hotel hidden among apple orchards and pine woods near Bressanone, South Tyrol. Centered around a serene natural lake, Seehof’s design is a study in biophilic harmony: earth-toned facades, living green roofs, and panoramic glass that invite the outdoors in. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability is evident the moment you arrive – guests driving electric cars receive priority parking and can charge for free at the on-site stations (the hotel’s energy is 100% renewable, with ~35% generated by its own photovoltaic system). Heating and cooling are provided by a communal biomass district heating network, ensuring efficiency and minimal emissions. In fact, Seehof holds KlimaHaus “A” certification and proudly reports a carbon footprint well below industry average. Water conservation is a big focus: the lovely natural swimming lake doubles as a rainwater reservoir, and the hotel uses greywater recycling and rainwater harvesting to cover irrigation and toilet flushing needs. No chlorine is used in the water – the lake and indoor pool use natural filtration and saline systems. The interiors showcase local craftsmanship and materials: furniture is made from South Tyrolean oak and larch, textiles are regional wool and linen, and even the wellness area’s stone comes from nearby quarries. This not only cuts transport emissions but roots the aesthetic in local tradition. Seehof’s ethos of “nature & simplicity” carries into the guest experience. The Lakeside SPA, called “La Primavera”, offers treatments with organic Alpine products (like mountain pine oils and edelweiss essences by Dr. Joseph Vitalis). Spa therapists are trained in zero-waste protocols – for instance, they mix scrubs and masks fresh per treatment to avoid packaging. Daily yoga and meditation sessions are held on a dock over the lake or in the forest clearing, aligning mind and environment. The culinary program, overseen by a Michelin-star-experienced chef, is farm-to-table: the kitchen garden provides herbs and edible flowers, and partnerships with nearby farmers supply pasture-raised meats, Pustertal potatoes, and organic cheeses. The menu changes with the seasons and always includes ample vegetarian and vegan choices, demonstrating a deep commitment to local and organic food. Community engagement is also part of Seehof’s DNA – the Auer family (owners for generations) invest in local social projects, including donating breakfasts weekly to the local retirement home and sourcing from cooperatives that employ people with disabilities. At night, Seehof emphasizes tranquility: there’s no loud entertainment, just perhaps a gentle acoustic concert by the fire or the sound of frogs by the lake. In this way, SEEHOF Nature Retreat truly lives up to its name, providing a rejuvenating escape that gently and luxuriously “goes green” in every possible sense.
